The Congo Basin has a regular hydrological regime with different variabilities in the rainy season and in the dry season. This resource is, however, almost entirely unexploited. It only contributes marginally to the development of the DRC

With the phenomenon of climate change which accentuates internal and external migration in the east and in the eastern part of the DRC, the water resources of the Congo Basin are already under pressure, according to specialists.

Discussions on the transfer of water from the Congo Basin to Lake Chad are sufficiently advanced with the creation at the United Nations level of a fund which should be used to transfer water to Lake Chad which has lost 80%. of its surface area in 40 years.

  • How to properly manage the water resources of the Congo Basin?

  • How can we deal with new challenges due to migration all around and near the Congo Basin?

  • Why is it important to conduct scientific research on the water resources of the Congo Basin?
