The Congo Basin Water Resources Research Center – CRREBaC of the University of Kinshasa, in collaboration with its scientific partners from the universities of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC, Marien Ngouabi in Congo Brazzaville, Rhodes in South Africa , Bristol and Leeds in the United Kingdom, and the DRC River Authority, has just concluded a scientific expedition on the Congo River. This scientific expedition carried out from July to August 2019 was led by Dr. Raphaël TSHIMANGA MUAMBA, Expert Hydrologist of the Congo Basin and Professor at the University of Kinshasa. It is the third in a series of field campaigns launched since July 2017, aiming to remedy the critical deficit of basic data and understanding of the hydrodynamic functioning of this second largest river in the world, with multiple socio-economic benefits (Navigation, Clean Energy, Irrigation, Fishing, Drinking Water Supply, Culture and Recreation) and environmental (Sanitation and Environmental Regulation).
