This capacity building workshop for researchers in data collection was led by Professor Michel BISA KIBUL (Project Consultant) and allowed researchers to note the relevant instructions linked to the methodology which should enable them to better carry out data collection.

These instructions related to the statistical principles of household enumeration, sample drawing, selection of resource persons, completion of the household questionnaire and the administration of individual interviews, focus groups and group discussions. This workshop also allowed researchers to take ownership of the activities to be carried out and the deliverables expected at the end of the survey stay.

At the end of this workshop, the various data collection tools were made available to researchers, namely an investigator's manual; a household enumeration sheet; a model sheet for choosing the sample; a sample drawing sheet; a sheet of migrants’ itineraries; a guide to focus groups and group discussions; an interview guide; an additional interview sheet for protected areas as well as a survey questionnaire for households. These data collection tools were submitted to the assessment of specialists to ensure that the questions asked were likely to obtain the indicators necessary to achieve the objectives of the research project.
