Support for the activities of PNUE on the implementation of the GIRE in the small developing island states of the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean (IWRM SIDS AIO).
The Integrated Water Resources Management event (GIRE) in Comoros is the result of a combination of long-term efforts of the Government of Comoros through the Ministry of Production and its multilateral partners, the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Development Program. Environment (PNUD, PNUE), as part of a project funded by the Global Environment Facility (FEM) for the integrated management of water resources and wastewater in small island developing States in the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. Following this initiative, the PNUE made a request to Cap-Net at PNUD in 2013 for experts to support the initiative in Comoros and Sao Tome and Principe. For the Comoros, CB–HYDRONET was recommended by Cap-Net UNDP to lead the process. Overall, the process took place between 2013 and 2017, with the main result being the development of the National IWRM Plan (PIN), intended to support and guide the governance and management of the water sector in Comoros for the next 12 years. years, in line with the government's vision for water and sanitation by 2030.
