Promoting Investment and Entrepreneurship in the Water Sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo
World Water Day is much more than a mere annual commemoration. It embodies a crucial opportunity for the international community to reaffirm the paramount importance of water in our world. Under the evocative theme "Water for Peace and Prosperity," this day highlighted the vital role of water in stability and economic development, particularly significant in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Regional School of Water (Ecole Régionale de l’Eau) and the Congo Basin Water Resources Research Center (CRREBaC) at the University of Kinshasa, regional water sector institutions, addressed the sub-theme: Promoting Investment and Entrepreneurship in the Water Sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. |
The activities of this day provided a platform to explore various aspects of innovation and entrepreneurship in the water sector, highlighting investment opportunities in key areas such as drinking water and sanitation, hydroelectricity, irrigated agriculture, navigation transport, ecosystem maintenance, and tourism. Simultaneously, major challenges such as governance and conservation of aquatic biodiversity were identified, underscoring the need for integrated approaches and concerted collaborations.
