It was this Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the Congo Basin Water Resources Research Center, on the hill inspired by Mount Amba at the University of Kinshasa, that the Open Day of the Regional School of Water, with the theme “Investing in Training and Research for Improved Access to Water Resources Services”.
This day was a great opportunity for experts in the water sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the general public to discuss the achievements of the Regional Water School of Kinshasa University and the prospects for investment in training and research with a view to meeting market needs and promoting the value of water in its social, economic, political, institutional and environmental aspects.
Several players in the water sector at national and international level responded massively to this knowledge meeting, including representatives of the diplomatic corps in the DRC, United Nations organizations, industrialists and users of the water. water, representatives of the DRC government, scientists and university students.
The achievements of the Regional Water School were indeed there. This involves new scientific knowledge and innovations in resource services: Water and Energy, Water and Environment, Water and Navigation, Water-Irrigation and Hydro-Agricultural Developments.
The Day was opened by the representative of His Excellency the Minister of Higher and University Education, who called on stakeholders in the water sector in the DRC to provide support in the training and research sector to put an end to the paradox that characterizes this sector with regard to the existing potential and the services provided to communities. This was an opportunity for the Academic Secretary General of the University of Kinshasa to call for the mobilization of strategic intelligence for reasoned management of water resources in the Congo Basin. This day was also an opportunity for the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia to launch a heartfelt cry to the scientific community for equitable management of water resources in order to promote cooperation and development of our nations. It was closed by the Rector of the University of Kinshasa who fully appreciated the scientific excellence which characterizes the Regional Water School of his University.
