Five students from the Ecole Supérieure de l’Eau as standard bearers for the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN)
As true ambassadors on behalf of UNIKIN, Cynthia SAFI MWAMBA, Fiston KAYEMBE, Marinette BIRA, Michael NZALI and Nana KABUJENDA students of the Master's program in Water Resources, from the Ecole Supérieure de l'Eau, took part in this 2022 edition of the network's summer school Waternet.
Indeed, Waternet is a component of the SADC (Southern African Development Community). And it is thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2022 by the Rector of the UNIKIN, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE, and the Executive Director of Waternet, Professor Jean-Marie KILESHYE that the UNIKIN Higher School collaborates with Waternet.
It is also within the framework of this collaboration that Waternet offered ten research scholarships to learners from the Ecole Supérieure de l’Eau of the University of Kinshasa.
An opportunity to raise awareness on ODD 6 and 13
The objective of this Summer School was to strengthen the capacities of learners on the theme “Water and Climate” extracted from the Sustainable Development Goals 6 and 13. That is to say :
- For the ODD 6 : Guarantee access to water and sanitation for all and ensure sustainable management of water resources;
- For the ODD 13 : Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Learners feel like they have grown in their understanding of current issues on water and climate.
Son KAYEMBE testifies : «Our vision of things has changed in the field of water management, of understanding how to approach the issue of water management, because we realize that it is not only a national issue but also an international one.»
